QUESTIONS AND ANSWERS

Q. I want to start Taekwon-do. What kind of a club should I be looking for?

A. The first thing you should do is visit a club. Talk with the instructor and observe how he/she is teaching. It is very important that you feel comfortable with your instructor and the way classes are being taught. You must be able to develop trust in your instructor. Do not pay fees that are too high, a good instructor will not be teaching to become rich! Check if the training is physically intensive and not too chaotic.

Q. I used to do martial art when I was younger. Do you accept students from other martial arts backgrounds.

A. We love nothing more than when someone wants to restart their martial arts training. We have many students with previous karate training for example who have gone on to achieve black belt, myself included.

Q. I am not very fit... Will that be a problem?

A. No, start training right away! Taekwon-do will help you to become fit in a (relative) short amount of time.

Q. I am not flexible at all! Can I still learn Taekwon-do?

A. Yes you can. Flexibility is very practical for high kicks but it is not an absolute must. Speed has a big influence as well. You will see that using proper technique and speed, you will reach pretty high, even if you are not the most flexible in your class!

Q. How much does it cost?

A. Training one hour a week £26.00 per month
Unlimited training is £46.00 per month
Pay as you go one hour classes £9 per hour.
Family offers are also available, contact me for details.
45 minute Junior classes are £6 pay as you go.

Q. Do I have to sign a contract?

A. No. You will however need to join our association, the TAGB at an annual cost of £38; this also covers you for insurance purposes. The first year is included in our starter pack offer.

Q. I have already reached the age of xxx. Am I not too old to start Taekwon-do?

A. You are never too old to start Taekwon-do, as long as you are physically able to train. We have 30 plus students over 40 years old. The most important aspect of training is that you feel good about the training and that you make progress on both physical and mental level.

Q. How long does it take to become a black belt?

A. That totally depends on how much you train. Training 2 - 3 times a week you can achieve the black belt level after about 3 and a half to 4 years. If you can only train a few times a month it's unlikely you will reach black belt but that should not be your only goal.
